That way, you can relax and/or go on adventures as much as you want. We are located in Havelock, NC, which puts us in a prime location for a number of Eastern NC coastal sites. Here are a few of the local attractions just a short distance from our campground:

• Atlantic Beach is just a short drive away and great for a day trip! It has beautiful public beaches and an abundance of shopping and dining options.
• NC Aquarium is a family friendly option for kids and adults alike. Check out some of NC’s wildlife, both from land and sea. 
• Fort Macon State Park is a great combination of nature and history. The park has hiking and bike trails as well as a restored pre-Civil War fort.
• Croatan National Forest has over 16,000 acres of breathtaking land full of pine forests, saltwater estuaries, bogs and raised swamps called pocosins. The forest also has camping and picnic areas, so you can take your time and really enjoy the day there.

Once you’re finished exploring all that Eastern NC has to offer, you can settle back into your site at Long Creek RV Park. Or, if you just want to take in the natural beauty of Havelock, NC, you don’t even have to leave the campsite. You can stay with us and soak up all of nature’s bounty!

Our campsite has boat access to small and shallow water boats, and we are only 12 miles away from deepwater access at the Sea Gate Marina. Long Creek, and the surrounding areas, are a hot spot for largemouth bass, brim, and white and raccoon perch. The nearby Neuse River is full of delicious saltwater catches like speckled trout, red and black drum, and flounder.

Once you’re done fishing for the day, you can settle in at our family-friendly, quiet, relaxing campground. Use our covered pavilion, with picnic tables and grill, to cook up your fresh catch and then enjoy your meal with your family and friends.

We are also centrally located, so that you can explore NC’s beautiful coast. If you step outside during the summer in North Carolina, you know that you’re going to get visited by some unwanted guests– bugs. From mosquitoes to gnats to flies to bees, Eastern NC is full of these pesky critters. However, they don’t have to ruin your time spent outdoors. Here are some tips to help you keep the bugs away while you enjoy the great outdoors:

• Avoid wearing perfume, cologne, scented lotions/soaps, and hairspray when you’re outdoors as this attracts bugs.
• Apply bug spray before you head outside.
• When cooking or eating outside, cover your food with saran wrap, paper towels, or netting to keep the bugs at bay.
• Clean up thoroughly after preparing or eating food outdoors.
• Use citronella candles to keep the bugs away when you’re outside, but be sure to never leave candles unattended.
• You can create a homemade bug spray with mint mouthwash or hydrogen peroxide. Spray this outdoors (but not on yourself) to deter bugs.
• Plug a fan in and sit it outdoors to keep the bugs away.

Eastern NC is a beautiful place to be, so don’t let the bugs ruin your time outside.

At Long Creek RV Park, we are in a prime location for all of your summer adventures! Our campground is situated right alongside Long Creek, and we’re only a short 20 minute drive from the beautiful Atlantic Beach. That means that when you stay with us, you can get your fix for all things water related!

The Creek

Our creek-side campground is the perfect laid back setting for water activities like fishing, crabbing, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and paddle boarding. There’s a boat launch only minutes away, so you can easily access the water for a bit of fun with your family and friends.

Long Creek is a fisherman’s paradise too! In fact, you can catch a wide variety of fish here, including speckled trout, red drum, and flounder, just to name a few! Once you’ve caught all that you can carry, you can use our campground’s grill to cook up your fresh catch.

The Beach

If you’re in the mood for some sunbathing at the beach, you’re only a 20 minute drive from Atlantic Beach. You can round up the kids and your beach toys and head that way for some fun in the sun and the waves. 

Aside from a beautiful beach, Atlantic Beach also boasts a number of delicious restaurants and charming shops. So, there’s sure to be something to entertain everyone in the family.

Long Creek RV Park is also a short distance from a number of other coastal attractions such as the NC Aquarium, Fort Macon State Park, and the Croatan National Forest.

The Campground

Once you’re done with your water adventures for the day, you can return to our family friendly campground. Here, you can cozy up by our community fire pit for some s’mores and maybe even some ghost stories (but nothing too scary!). If you’re in the mood for something heartier than s’mores, we also have a covered pavilion with benches, a picnic table, and a BBQ grill– maybe you can even grill up a fresh catch from your day on the creek!

Our campground also includes a laundry facility and a heated bathhouse with hot/cold showers. So, you can unwind and make yourself right at home.

The weather in NC is warming up, with many areas experiencing the warmest temperatures of the year so far. The spring and summer are a great time to visit our campground and enjoy the beauty of Eastern NC. However, you’ll want to practice summer safety during those dog days of summer, so here are some summer safety tips:

• Avoid spending too much time outside during the hottest part of the day: late morning to early afternoon.
• Always wear sunscreen when heading outside, and reapply every few hours.
• Be sure to drink plenty of water.
• If you decide to hit the water, don’t go swimming or boating by yourself.
• If you head out on a boat, be sure to have enough life vests for everyone on board.
• Don’t dive from our fishing piers, as the water is too shallow.
• Wear light, moisture wicking clothing if you’re spending time outside when it’s hot.
• If you decide to grill or use the fire pit, don’t leave the fires unattended.
• Always monitor small children and pets when using a grill or fire pit.
• Please don’t use fireworks on the campground.

At Long Creek RV Park, we don’t just have visitors stay with us in their RVs, we also have a good number of guests who come with their tents to stay in our campground. Spring and summer are a great time of year to go tent camping. However, Eastern NC can get pretty warm, so here are some tips to help you keep cool in your tent this spring and summer:

• Choose a shaded and/or breezy spot in the campground to set up your tent.
• Use a portable, battery operated fan in your tent at night.
• Keep your sleeping bag unzipped and use a light sheet to cover you.
• Sleep in light, loose fitting clothing– preferably cotton material.
• Use a cool, damn cloth on your forehead or neck to keep you cool.
• Drink lots of cold water.
• Use a reflective sunshade above your tent.
• Choose a tent with mesh windows.

If you enjoy bird watching, then you’ll be pleased to know that Eastern NC boasts a wide variety of beautiful and unique birds to see. When you come to stay with us at Long Creek RV Park, be sure to bring your binoculars so you can scope out all of the beautiful birds on and around our campground. 

If you want to view some coastal birds, Atlantic Beach is just a short drive away. Some birds that are native to the Atlantic Beach area include a variety of woodpeckers, including the Red-bellied Woodpecker and the Red Cockaded Woodpecker. If you’re on the beach, you might spot the rare and elusive Piping Plover; keep an eye out because they easily blend in with their surroundings on the beach. If you head to the marshes in the area, you might see the Clapper Rail, which is a large and beautiful bird.

The Croatan Forest is also nearby and is another great spot for bird watching. Some birds you might see while visiting this area include the Acadian Flycatcher, Worm-eating Warbler, Great Blue Herons, and Brown Creepers, just to name a few. In addition, Lake Ellis Simon within the forest is home to NC’s largest nesting colony of Double-crested Cormorants!

If you want to stay on the campground, there are still plenty of birds to see! Eastern NC is home to many delightful and unique birds, including the Brown-headed Nuthatch, Prothonotary Warbler, and the strikingly colorful Painted Bunting.
